Eric is a singer/songwriter with over seven years classical training. They are best known for being the frontperson of Melbourne based punk band Eat-Man. They also perform occasional solo country sets under the name Ricky Butler.
Eat-Man is a bubblegum punk band founded in 2016. Their first and final full-length album '1800-Eat-Man', a debut and retrospective all in one, came out in 2021. Eat-Man is made up of Ashley Ronning on bass, Hamish Storrie on drums, Oscar Casley on guitar and Eric Butler on vocals.
Ricky performs sad country songs to crowds of tens with a band of one or less. Think Orville Peck and Lana Del Rey kissing at a party one night and regretting it. Sporadically joined by collaborator Lyndon Blue.
In 2023 Eric joined V as part of their backing choir on the album 'Faithless'. This included recording backing vocals, appearing in the music video, and performing at the album launch at the Federation Bells in Birrarung Marr.
